The beginning of Michael Grant Homes was all about family. It began with the selection of a company name dedicated to the two sons of it's founder, Derek Morse. Derek sincerely believes "it’s all about our family and yours".
It’s a story of another "American dream" becoming reality, and it all started in Oregon, where his family owned and operated a large construction company that built strong communities throughout the state for over 50 years. Derek was able to work for the family business during his summers as an Oregon State University student, graduating with a degree in Construction Engineering and Business Management.
Upon graduation, Derek worked in commercial construction, but quickly realized that his passion was custom homebuilding. He pursued his dream by accepting a job as project manager for a luxury homebuilder in Oregon, using his skills in management and engineering to further hone his talents.
In 2013, Derek, and his family moved to the Austin area so that he could continue to pursue his passion. With the completion of Derek’s first custom home, his dreams became reality.
As a true American, Derek is proud to state, "I did build that”, and is also proud to offer his personalized touch to families looking to create their dream home. With his attention to detail and an impeccable eye for design and décor, Derek offers much more than just building a house. He will be there from start to finish, offering innovative ideas in design while insuring quality craftsmanship and customer satisfaction.
Michael Grant Homes works with dedicated local trade partners who share the company’s commitment to building homes families can enjoy for generations.
During Derek's earlier tenure in commercial construction, he chose Chateau Construction who has been building high-end new residential construction in the Oregon Willamette Valley for over 13 years with Quality, Style, & Detail. The experience and knowledge he obtained through his association as Project Manager, further flamed his desire to create his own company from which he could apply his personal touch and god-given talent.
